Since 1985, Data Security, Inc. has been the world leader of National Security Agency (NSA) approved degaussers for the Department of Defense (DoD). As data storage technologies continue to evolve, the NSA continues to develop new standards for erasing, sanitizing and disposing of data storage media. Through innovative design, we hold several patents for hard drive degaussers, tape degaussers and hard drive destruction equipment.

The Electrical Engineer position is responsible for the design of electronic, electrical, electromagnetic, magnetic and electromechanical subsystems and products. Through innovation, efficiency and principled design practices, this position works as a member of the engineering team to fulfill market driven needs.

 Competencies

  • Remain current with latest technical innovation and emerging technologies in the electrical engineering field by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks or participating in professional societies.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost/benefits analysis to maximize the effective manufacture of products.
  • Broad electrical/electronic/magnetic knowledge
  • Experience in the following software
    • Microsoft Office Applications
    • Integrated development environment for machine firmware and logic controller programming
    • CAD Applications; schematic capture, circuit board layout, illustrations for customer documentation
  • Magnetic and electromagnetic finite elements analysis
    • Manufacturing Resources Planning Applications - item definition and BoM entry
  • Ability to work with basic electronic instruments: multimeter, oscilloscope, wave form analyzer, signal generator, counter/timer and magnetometer
  • Competency using vendors' component parametric searches
  • Ability to read and interpret data sheets to match best available parts to new product requirements
  • Ability to develop circuits, wiring plans and component layouts
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a team player, self-motivated, dependable and dedicated
  • Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others
  • Ability to use "critical thinking" in solving problems

Work Environment

Most work is performed in an office environment with some work on the manufacturing floor and engineering lab

 

Physical Demands

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand. The employee is occasionally required to bend, twist or reach as well as lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision preferred and the ability to adjust focus between multiple tasks.

Monday Friday, 8am to 5pm

 

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering

 

Preferred Education and Experience

Advanced Engineering degree with 2+ years experience in electronic design
